cubscout charactersAbout Us

Cub Scout Pack 318 is a group of 1st through 5th grade boys primarily from Dr. W. J. Creel Elementary School in Melbourne, Florida. We also have boys from Sable & Croton Elementary Schools and Educational Horizons Charter School

Chartered by the Kiwanis Club, Pack 318 has been in existence for 55 years (since 1955).

Pack 318 meets on the second Monday of the month during the school year at the Masonic Lodge Harbor City No 318, 1715 Avocado Ave, Melbourne, Fla. There, we award any achievements earned during the month and announce upcoming events like camping, pinewood derby and Family Fest. At other times, we support community activities such as Scouting For Food to collect food for the local shelters.

We are one of many packs in the Riverside District which is part of the larger Central Florida Council. Boy Scouts of America supports over 300 local councils in the United States.

What We Do

The boys and their families participate in various scouting activities that are consistent with the framework presented by the Boy Scouts of America. There are achievements that are earned, like swimming, bike riding and using a compass. Keeping it fun is the top priority. Learning new skills, while having fun and earning awards helps the boys build confidence and make them good leaders for the future.

At the Cub Scout level (1st - 5th grade), the parents/guardians are a big part of the group. All of the Pack leaders as well as the den leaders are all parent/guardian volunteers with boys in the pack. Without their help, there wouldn't be a pack.

The Pack is divided into smaller groups called dens (by grade level). Dens meet at other times during the month to work on activities, to learn the ways of scouting and to earn achievements and awards. Dens can also plan their own activities such as a visit to the zoo.

pack2deco cubscouting ...is Fun

Cub scouting may be a lot of things, but it's definitely fun.

This is a good year to get into scouting, because we're having a year long party -- a birthday party -- as we celebrate 100 years of scouting in America!! BSA will be 100 in February 2010, and this is our centennial year.

Scouting turned 100 on 8 Feb 2010. We just celebrated it as part of our Blue and Gold with the assistance of the local chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers.

We got to check out some very nice motorcycles and find out some interesting facts in african-american history. A very special thanks to them for celebrating scouting's 100th anniversary with us! And thanks to Linda for putting it all together!

Awesome rockets !!! On February 20th, we visited the Spaceport Rocketry Association and launched our rockets!!! A good time and a lot of fun!

Contact us, come to scouting night at your school, visit us at a Pack Meeting. Become part of the fun, come celebrate our centennial with us.
